Cognitive Fluidity by textile designer Siff Pristed

cognitive fluidity.jpg

Textile is the key element in the installation Cognitive Fluidity, where interaction between space, perception and light creates a multidimensional experience for the viewer.

Siff Pristed takes turns working intuitively and systematically, using natural patterns, shapes and colours stemming from mathematical, biological and cosmic phenomenons. The project evolves organically – it is open to, and affected by external factors and influences.

“In the installation I examine an absurd and surrealistic parallel universe, where the existence of the body plays an active role in filling up the screamingly empty space. Using my instincts, I aim to visualize my own textile cosmos. You are invited to walk inside the installation, which will chew you up and spit you out on the other side, brutally, but lovingly,” says Siff.

The exhibition opens on Friday the 8th of December, 4pm-8pm in Non-space, an experimental design platform located in Rosensgade 11, Aarhus C.

Opening hours:
Saturday 9/12: 16:00-20:00
Sunday 10/12: 12:00-17:00
Monday 11/12: 14:00-19:00
Tuesday 12/12: 14:00-19:00

Siff Pristed (1984) is a textile designer based in Copenhagen. The subjects of Siff’s work are atmospheres, colours and shapes created using experimental, intuitive and abstract methods. Her work is a subjective interpretation of the world around her, free of immediate order or continuity.

Siff holds an MA in textile design from Kolding School of Design and her work has been exhibited in Ventura Lambrate (Milano, IT), Reitir (IS), R&R Studio (Los Angeles), Creativity World Forum (DK), Vess (DK), Kvit Galleri (DK), Officinet (DK) and Henrik Vibskov Boutique (DK), among others.

Cognitive Fluidity is a continuation of Siff’s residency at the textile workshop at Statens Verkstæder for Kunst during the summer 2017 and is supported by Statens Kunstfond and Esther og Jep Finks Mindefond for Arkitektur og Kunsthåndværk.
